• Barytes due to high specific gravity and bulk density gives lower oil absorption which is a very much advantageous to increase pigment ratio with out very much affecting the rheological properties of the paint E.g. Flat Wall paint, Traffic Paints and Primer Surfaces etc.


• Barites Extender due to its excellent resistance to acids and alkalies, finds maximum usage in Chemical resistance coatings


• Barytes Extender does not have a very high pH value hence it is used in combination with alkali sensitive pigments, (E.g. Lorn Blue and Chrome Green) to impart greater density and compactness to films of paints.


• Barytes being alkaline is also used in Latex paints.


• Due to its high specific gravity, Barites settles at the bottom very rapidly to a hard settling. To avoid settling additive like Aluminum Stearate is recommended.
